Entrelac in its traditional form - rows of rectangles knit
on opposing bias is a fun and engaging surface to knit.
But why not make it impossible to put down by using
endless amounts of color, re-arranging the rows of
rectangles, squares and triangles, stack these shapes in
new ways, make them three dimensional, or change their
size. The choices are endless, intriguing and playful all at once.
You'll learn the traditional surface as well as some of
the more whimsical ones. Materials fee: $8.00 payable

Learn seven things that will make a big difference in the appearance of your
sweaters. The smallest details can have a huge impact-increasing in ribbing,
bumpy or smooth cast on edge, slanting decreases, invisible increases,
perfect buttonholes, flat edgings, and blocking. In this class, you will
learn about all of these things while you practice and receive lots of tips
and hints. Since you are going to spend hours making a garment, you'll want
to use these techniques to make even the simplest sweater look marvelous.

An advanced sock workshop for happy sock knitters who wish to refine or
spice up their socks. These tools can be used when working on socks of your
own design as well as working from an existing pattern - just like editing a
recipe to your own taste. Two toes that will work for socks of any size.
Heel options to make them fit perfectly on any foot, and suggestions for
harder wearing heels. Three bind offs that are elastic and decorative.
Prerequisite: Must have knit at least one sock before; must know how to knit
in the round with double point needles. Materials fee: $1.00 payable to

CLOSED H. Introduction to Fair Isle Knitting

We will work on a hat in class and learn the techniques of fair isle
knitting: holding a different color of yarn in each hand and knitting
American style with the right hand and continental style with the left hand,
how to control the strands of yarn on the wrong side, how to adjust tension
so your knitting will lay flat and how to read the pattern. You can then use
these same techniques to make a beautiful fair isle sweater. We will also
discuss different ways to knit ribbings that will make a hat look more or
less feminine. Materials fee: $5 for pattern with 3 different fair isle
designs plus a worksheet to plan the colors for the design.

Have you fallen in love with a sweater pattern, then felt stumped when it
came time to decide what size to make for yourself? Have you knit something
perfectly, matching the gauge exactly, and then afterward felt you should
have knit a size larger or smaller? Just as a medium in one brand of
clothing will fit differently than a medium in another brand, a medium
according to one designer will fit differently than a medium from another
designer. Here is help in picking what size to knit. In this class we will
measure our upper bodies, draw a sloper. We will discuss how to factor in
ease for the yarn, and style of sweater. Prerequisite: ability to do simple
math; this class is for women only. Materials fee: $3.00 payable to

CLOSED J. Perfectly Stretchy Sock Cuffs

Fill your sock drawer with socks that fit. Sneaky increases and decreases
that work with toe-up and top-down socks. Techniques for stretchy cuffs and
modifying existing patterns by designing your own cuff variations.
Prerequisite: Students must be very comfortable with knitting in the round.
Serious sock experience recommended.

Learn to knit lace while creating a lacy sachet. We will cover the yarn
overs and decreases needed to make lace.
CLOSED L. Modular Knitting

Students will make squares and triangles to see how modular knitting
techniques work. Learn how to join on yarn so no sewing is required. A
sampler will be started using modular pieces. There will be some discussion

CLOSED M. Odd Couple: Two Color Knitting and Double Pointed Needles

Afraid to start those Norwegian mittens or Fair Isle socks because you have
to use double pointed needles? This class will help you overcome the clumsy
feeling of two color knitting on double pointed needles. We will knit a
preemie hat in class on double pointed needles and using two colors.
CLOSED N. Design a Baby Blanket from the Center Out

Design a square baby blanket from the center out, using different patterns
and stitches and colors. Finished project will be a doll sized blanket.
Prerequisites: Must be comfortable with double pointed and circular needles.

O. Christmas Stocking, Knit an Heirloom

Learn all the essentials to knit a Christmas stocking. Bring a kit or yarn,
pattern and required size needles for your project. Prerequisites: Knit,
purl, read a color chart; can learn intarsia in class
P. Alternating Diagonals - a short row scarf

Beyond your basic garter stitch scarf. We'll start by learning how to knit
on the diagonal and then we'll change directions using the short row
technique. Interesting texture in a single color - beautiful in a
self-striping yarn.
Q. Double Knitting - THE NEXT STEP

In this class, I will briefly review the basics of Double Knitting. The
majority of the class time will be spent learning increasing and decreasing
in double knitting. We will cover choosing the patterns to use for double
knitting. Pattern will be provided by instructor. Prerequisites: Student
must be able to read charts, work with cable needle, and be familiar with
increasing and decreasing, be able to work with 2 colors of yarn, (i.e. Fair
Isle) (Students who have taken Linda's "Double Knitting - The Basics" will

CLOSED R. The Aran Stitches of Ireland

Have fun learning the twists and cables that appear in fisherman knit
sweaters. Students will make a swatch, learning stitches and patterns and
how they interact. Individuals work at their own comfort level and develop
confidence to tackle harder patterns with experience.
CLOSED S. Especially Quick Beadknitted Lariat Necklace-2 Looks

Students will begin a simple bead knitted lariat necklace in class. The
project will not be completed in class time but the students will be taught
everything needed to finish at home. Prerequisites: Patience, good eyesight
and willingness to work with tiny metal needles.
T. Why Doesn't Mine Look Like That? Knitting Gauge and Blocking

You followed the pattern, yet, it doesn't look like the sweater in the
photo! This class will cover how to measure gauge and how to properly block
and finish garments so that your knitting looks its best. We will discuss
how gauge measurement applies to your knitting and how good gauge and
blocking creates a handmade garment rather than a homemade garment. Topics
of discussion will include how to measure gauge and many useful techniques
for blocking various types of yarns. Bring you own finished and unblocked
work for class discussion.
CLOSED U. Custom Fit Raglan

In this class you will learn to take measurements and fit them into an
equation to create the "custom fit raglan" sweater in the size you desire
knitted from the top down. Prerequisites: Measure accurately and read &
comprehend instructions; previous use of double pointed needles a plus.

handouts.
W. Knitted Christmas Ornaments

During this class you will knit three mini Christmas ornaments: a hat, scarf
and mitten
Skill Levels are defined as follows-
Basic: No knitting knowledge or skills needed.
Beginner: Can knit, purl cast on and cast off.
Intermediate: Beginner level skills plus increase, decrease, and follow simple patterns.
Advanced: Intermediate level skills plus yarn over patterns, cables, ribbing, comfortable with
pattern interpretation.
All levels: This class is of interest regardless of knitting skill level.
